Starting a City’s UAV (Drone) Program

The City of Marietta started a UAV (drone) program in January 2017. Since then, the program has been a positive investment for the City’s GIS team as well as other City departments. Ross Brewer, Marietta GIS Analyst will share the City’s drone experiences – from the evaluation of program benefits to following FAA regulations, plus other high-flying considerations.
The City of Tucker, Georgia will also present its newly created UAV program headed by Tunan Hu, GIS Analyst. After initial flights of city parks including 3D mesh models built from aerial photography, the City of Tucker plans to expand its use of UAVs to economic development, tourism, and other city functions.
