We’re seeking a talented GIS Analyst to join our dynamic team and help shape the future of our city. Join our team and play a vital role in supporting and administering GIS and related data components for our Fire Department. This dynamic position offers a unique blend of technical challenges and community service, ensuring our city’s mapping system and central geographic database are at the forefront of innovation and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Geographic Information System (GIS) Environment:
- Support City GIS Solutions: Manage web applications, SQL scripting, and more.
- Enhance Data Integrity: Provide feedback and assistance on reporting, analytics, and dashboards.
General Mapping and Data Analysis:
- Data Management: Collect, compile, improve, and integrate GIS/Fire Department data and metadata.
- Technical Assistance: Aid staff create and execute mapping and data analysis tasks.
- Map Generation: Produce maps for various city department projects.
- Spatial Analysis: Maintain data layers, maps, and tables using advanced GIS technology.
- Visual Representation: Create detailed visualizations, including analytical models and 3D renderings.
- E911 Geospatial Data: Edit and coordinate data for Dispatch provider ChatComm, including NG911 implementation and maintenance.
Administrative Tasks:
- Troubleshooting and Support: Perform repairs and oversee application maintenance.
- User Support: Provide technical assistance for GIS databases, equipment, or applications.
- Reporting: Ensure the availability and accuracy of system reports.
- SOP Development: Help develop and document technology-related Standard
Operating Procedures.
- Project Implementation: Assist in GIS/Fire Department technical projects.
- Communication: Liaise with customer agencies and attend technical system meetings.
- Professional Development: Stay updated through literature, education, certifications, and professional organizations.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Geography, GIS, Cartography, or related field.
- One year of technical experience with ESRI software platform ArcGIS Desktop and ArcGIS Online.
- Or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with local, state, or federal government.
- Familiarity with Power BI and/or SSRS.
Skills and Abilities:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Technologically adept with software like Excel, virtual meeting platforms, and Dropbox.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Independent worker with multitasking capabilities.
- Strong relationship-building skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
