Position Summary:
The Geospatial Designer will be responsible for utilizing their expertise in GIS (Geographic Information System) and design to support spatial analysis, data visualization, and conceptual design processes. The successful candidate will work closely with the economic and community development team to develop innovative solutions, optimize spatial layouts, and create visually appealing representations of geospatial data in industrial, commercial, and mixed-use development opportunities incorporating both 2D and 3D visualizations.
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
· Utilize GIS tools and techniques to collect, manage, analyze, and visualize geospatial data related to site design, including topography, environmental features, and land use.
· Conduct spatial analysis, including data overlay, proximity analysis, terrain modeling, and suitability assessments, to support decision-making processes.
· Create visually compelling maps, diagrams, and 2D/3D visualizations to effectively communicate information to stakeholders.
· Maintain geospatial databases including but not limited to research, acquisition, and quality control as well as ongoing process and implementation of quality assurance for all site planning products.
· Maintain geospatial datasets to ensure GIS databases and GIS web applications are up-to-date, and develop new processes and procedures, as necessary.
· Research and data collection for the preparation of project related materials related to property searches and verification, necessary GIS functions including related research and preparation as directed.
Create two-dimensional and three-dimensional building designs and site-layouts for illustrative and marketing purposes in support of proposed economic development projects.
· Compile information requested to produce marketing materials related to external marketing programs including but not limited to email marketing, website display, printed materials, lead generation, etc.
· Develop and maintain close working relationships with departmental and company-wide staff along with members and business partners. Proactively seek ways to be of assistance to staff in implementing programs and initiatives.
· Research and stay updated on the latest trends, technologies, and methodologies in GIS and industrial site design.
· Participate in meetings, workshops, and presentations to share insights, recommendations, and project progress.
· Other duties as assigned to promote and enhance job requirements as well as department and company objectives.
Qualifications:
To perform this job effectively, the individual must demonstrate the following competencies:
· Solid understanding of GIS concepts with the ability to present analytical alternatives and develop geospatial solutions.
· Strong proficiency in GIS Software including ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Desktop, and ArcGIS Online (StoryMaps, Hub, Survey 123, Experience Builder).
· Proficiency in design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, AutoCAD) to create visually appealing graphics and 3D visualizations.
· Solid understanding of cartographic principles, data visualization techniques, and graphic design concepts.
· Strong understanding of geodatabases, data management, and data quality control processes.
· Solid understanding of managing an ArcGIS Online organization.
· Knowledge of industrial, commercial, mixed-use site design principles, including land use planning and environmental concerns.
· Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
· Strong communication and presentation skills to effectively convey complex geospatial information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
· Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
· Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships both internally and externally.
· Ability to think analytically and develop creative solutions to problems.
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Geospatial Sciences, Urban Planning, Landscape Architecture, or a related field and 1-3 years of demonstrated experience in operating GIS systems including experience in ArcGIS Suite of products, SketchUp 3D Design Software, Adobe Creative Suite.
Other:
This position may require limited travel to local, regional, state, and national business functions/appointments. Position requires some evening and weekend work. No relocation available.
